Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a lawsuit about Siri’s privacy issues.

Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a lawsuit that claims its virtual assistant, Siri, listened to users without their permission. The lawsuit was filed in a federal court in Oakland, California, five years ago.

It started when people said Apple recorded conversations even when Siri wasn’t turned on. This made people worry about Apple’s promise to protect privacy, something its CEO often talks about.

Apple says it did nothing wrong, but the settlement still needs to be approved by the court.

The lawsuit said Apple recorded user conversations for more than ten years and might have shared those recordings with advertisers, which goes against its claim of keeping user data safe.
