SHORT:
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko recently said that Western influence is getting weaker as more countries want to be more independent and not follow Western ideas.
Some leaders in Eastern Europe agree with this and support growing economies and countries like Russia and China instead of the West. This idea might be Lukashenko’s way of dealing with problems from the West, like punishments and being left out of talks after Belarus had elections that many people didn’t like.
By saying the West isn’t as powerful, Lukashenko wants to make people in his country feel proud and show that his government’s actions are right. He’s also joining other leaders who want a world where different regions work together and have more control over their own affairs.
