The German qovernment criticized U.S. billionaire Elon Musk for trying to affect its February election by sharing articles supporting the AfD party, which they called “nonsense.”
Musk, who is likely to advise Donald Trump’s administration, called the AfD Germany’s last hope in an article for Welt am Sonntag. This led to the resignation of the newspaper’s commentary editor.
A government spokesperson said Musk has the right to share his opinions, even if they seem ridiculous, but they believe he is trying to influence the election.
Musk, the world’s richest person, defended his actions by pointing to his investments in Germany and praising the AfD’s views on rules and taxes.
