
India now has the third-largest metro rail network in the world, covering 1,000 kilometers, and is only behind China and the U.S. More than 998 kilometers of metro projects are currently being built, which will greatly improve city transportation.
In 2022, India overtook Japan in metro development and is on track to become the second-largest metro network globally. Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened a 2.8-kilometer part of Delhi Metro Phase-IV, which cost about Rs 1,200 crore and will help areas like Krishna Park and Janakpuri in West Delhi.
He also started work on the 26.5-kilometer Rithala-Kundli section, which is expected to cost Rs 6,230 crore and will improve travel between Rithala and Nathupur in Haryana.
