India wants to build stronger economic relationships with the United States while Donald Trump is president.

India wants to improve its economic relationship with the United States under the new Trump government, according to Trade Minister Piyush Goyal.

He shared his hope for a strong partnership, mentioning that India has built good ties with past U.S. governments. In the 2023/24 financial year, trade between the two countries was over $118 billion, with India having a $32 billion trade advantage.

Experts predict trade could grow by another $50 billion in the coming years. Both the Indian government and businesses back a full trade and investment deal to help Indian companies join global supply chains while protecting the country’s interests.
