Indian ED Team discover 262 Canadian colleges connected to human trafficking groups in India.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has connected 262 Canadian colleges to a human trafficking scheme involving two Indian groups.

The investigation revealed that 112 colleges worked with one group and more than 150 with another.

The ED found around 1,700 agents in Gujarat and about 3,500 across India, with approximately 800 still active. This probe started after a police report was filed about the deaths of a family from Dingucha village at the Canada-US border in January 2022.

In December, the ED searched several cities, froze Rs 19 lakh in bank accounts, and took away evidence like documents and vehicles.

The suspects are accused of charging vulnerable Indian citizens Rs 55 to 60 lakh each for illegally entering the USA through Canada.
