Iran has said it might consider sending troops to Syria.

Iran is willing to consider providing military help to Syria during a big rebel attack, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

He said that any requests for help will be looked at. Iran has already sent military advisors to support Syria, as confirmed by foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei. The Iranian government believes the attack is part of a plan by the US and Israel to cause trouble in the area.

General Mohammad Bagheri, the head of Iran’s armed forces, sees the rebe as a danger to the region’s stability and has talked about supporting the Syrian army with officials from Iraq and Syria, as well as Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov.
