Donald Trump is said to be very serious about making Greenland and the Panama Canal part of the United States.
He recently talked about the U.S. owning and controlling Greenland and complained about the high fees for using the Panama Canal. Trump has also joked about making Canada a U.S. state with its leader, Justin Trudeau, as the “governor.”
His interest in Greenland and the canal fits with his plan to focus on America’s needs and compete with China and Russia.
In his first term, people working for him looked into buying Greenland, but Denmark and Greenland said no in 2019. The idea is to help Greenland’s people, who don’t have much money, and permission from Denmark to make it happen.
