Russian senator says there might be a ban on WhatsApp by 2025.

A Russian official named Senator Artem Sheykin said that Russia might stop people from using WhatsApp in 2025 if it doesn’t follow their rules.

This news comes from a report by RIA Novosti. In 2022, Russia called Meta, the company that owns WhatsApp, an “extremist organization.”

Right now, WhatsApp is the only Meta service still allowed in Russia, but it was recently put on a list that requires the app to keep user information and let the police see it. Sheykin warned that if WhatsApp doesn’t do what Russia asks, it could be banned.
